RFWDC Jamboree 4x4 Challenge

Location: Kampung Bambangan, Tambunan Date: 13-14 Nov 2010 Categories: Semi-hardcore and Hardcore Challenge Camera: Olympus E-1 + 12-60mm In photography point of view, shooting 4x4 is a photography event which only those really interested on the 4x4 adrenalin will keep busy around. Big 4x4 events and challenges that are reachable to most of 4x4 photography enthusiast will be covered easily by fellow photographer. Some paid to do the job, but in my case, its a passion keep me always looking for our local 4x4 challenge. Going into the mud and rain quickly transformed into fun of taking photos.  My trusty camera, Olympus E-1 and 12-60mm serve my 4x4 photography passion. Its weather sealing make me less worried on the rain during 4x4 event. I still hope for Olympus to upgrade E-1 form factor with larger LCD and E-5 functions capable.  Landscape of a paddy field at Kampung Patau, Tambunan, on the way to Ranau

FourThirds Alive Petition

I found a petition to continue the 4/3 system of Olympus cameras. To all Olympus 4/3 system users (E-X, E-XX, E-XXX), take a look and sign. Because we don't want this system to die just like that even Olympus is focusing on their m4/3 mirror-less cameras.  They can co-exist together and hopefully there will be a pro bodies of m4/3 also. Borneo Safari 2010 - Special Stages 1 & 2

Although I missed the opportunity to go full BS2010 expedition, it is good that the first two Special Stages (SS) were started near Kota Kinabalu. So, many of the enthusiast photographers got the opportunity to shoot some of the extreme off road challenge in Borneo Safari. The venue for the SS1 and SS2 is Bukit Vor in Putatan. It is actually big stone quarry. Taking photos of the action  under the hot sun is not easy, but nothing can stop the temptation to get the shoot. I had already prepared since some previous 4x4 challenges to wear a good shoes, hand protector and large hat. I also have an umbrella and small folding chair. The seven-day convoy will go through the pristine rainforest, forest reserve, wildlife corridors, long abandoned timber tracks and the  buffer zone, Maliau Basin. Event theme for this year's BS2010 is awareness on conservation, nature and wildlife. The best thing for photographer is the photography competition during the event which related to the theme with attractive prize to be given away.     Feel free to go to Borneo Safari's Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Borneo-Safari/119030938146256 Approximate path from KK to Tawau for BS2010 Actually I was invited to join a team as support car crew member and acting as the team photographer. However, when I ready to pack my gears and clothing to join the crew, I finally unable to proceed to do my dream expedition. Its due to misunderstanding on registration where I did not registered by the team as participant to follow the support car crew member. I can just go but its my responsibility if anything happen. The New Toyota Hilux 3.0G Roadshow - 1Borneo, Kota Kinabalu Sabah

Kota Kinabalu was the launching ground of the new variation of Hilux 3.0G as reported in paultan.org on October 7. I visited their roadshow at 1Borneo on 10.10.2010 just to take some photos of the beast. After years other makers such as Mitsubishi, Isuzu and Mazda produce their 3.0cc, Toyota finally decided to join the higher cc race and further strengthen Toyota market share for double-cab segment.
