I managed to shoot some photos during the 2-day event held at Kampung Lembah Permai, Kundasang. The challenge is actually consist of two events which suppose to be held in Kundasang and then convoy to Serinsim for another challenge. However due to time limitation, the convoy was canceled and the whole challenge in Kundasang instead.
The year of 2010 looks like Kundasang Four Wheel Drive Club (K4WDC) a bit busy organizing few challenges. Started from New Year Novice Challenge (Jan 2010), Youth day 4x4 and 2x2 Challenge (March 2010), Kaamatan Novice Challenge (May), Gondohon 4x4 Challenge (August, 2010), Pesta Kubis 4x4 Challenge (Oct 2010) and the most recent Kundasang Safari 2010 Semi-Hardcore Challenge. Kudos to K4WDC for actively organizing novice and semi-hardcore challenge. This would help participants to gain more skill on 4x4 challenges and at the same time providing opportunity for light modified 4x4 vehicles, unlike those expensive and heavily modified and equipped hardcore vehicles.
Semi-hardcore challenge means the vehicle must not using additional help from lockers and winch, just usual 4x4 on their vehicles. However the track has some hardcore part that the drivers need to overcome.

Starting from the box, this pink BJ40 need to climb the steep about 5' and 90 degree.
Then some hole obstacles
The driver of this pink BJ40 have to "buy" this track by hitting the pole to avoid the dangerous man-made hole obstacle (one car was rolled here.. see last photo).
However, this BJ40 was finally rolled to its left on this hole, luckily the BJ40 landed on a side edge

The co-driver was managed to push the vehicle back on track
The most difficult obstacle, climbing from the wet and very narrow river banks. Both driver and the co-driver cooperate to bring some rocks to the track

Determination, cooperation and skill are the winning formula..
Roll over and recovery are the usual thing during challenge.
Until then, I hope the very best for K4WDC next year and more events will be organized to promote this extreme sport locally.
